We left Las Lenas just as a fresh snow fall had started, covering the now slightly worn slopes with a new and much needed layer of snow. The end of skiing also signified the end of our time in Argentina. It was just over 4 months ago that we first entered, we’ve covered a lot of the country and had a great time but now it was time to say goodbye – we had 10 days to get from just outside Mendoza all the way up to Rio De Janeiro! The choice was either do it in stages, stopping regularly on route to break up the journey (nicer option but meaning we didn’t really get any time in any one place) or over the course of 3 days take one big marathon journey of buses! For some stoopid reason we opted for the later, so 59.5 hours of buses later over a space of 72 we finally hit our intended destination. From Las Lenas it was a very comfy 16 hour night bus to Buenos Aires, spent a few hours stretching the legs in the city and then back to the bus station. Next a not so comfy 27 hour bus ride up to the city of Florianopolis in Brazil, once again time for a quick walk around before getting on another 9 hour night bus to Sao Paulo before one last little 8 hour day time leg up to the small port town of Angra Dos Reis… phew! Arriving feeling drained, achy and slightly crazy from all that time in a bus we headed out straight into town to explore but the last 3 days quickly hit us and it wasn’t too long before we were sitting in a bar watching a political demonstration go by and listening to the local gospel choir practise in the church next door.
