Well kinda, there is another town on a small island further south in Chile but you can only get to it from Argentina and guess what – they make it as difficult and as expensive as they possibly can meaning that they get all the tourism for being at the bottom of the world! We started our trip in Ecuador on the equator and we were now over 54 degrees further south and more than 6000 miles away from where we started at the gateway to Antarctica – cool (excuse the pun!). Having caught the long bus journey down from Puerto Natales we was expecting the weather to be a lot worse the further south we went however it seemed that fortune was again on our side. Even though it was cold we had a few days of sunshine – no rain or snow which meant we could get out exploring a little but this time leaving the tent behind (after the last experience we decided it was best to buy one!). We visited the Tierra del Fuego national park and attempted to climb a mountain and glacier near town before being turned back because the snow melt had made the route dangerous and impassable. We also managed to chill out a little as the last few weeks of adventures finally caught up with us and the warmth of our hostel with its stunning views of the Beagle channel and the coldness of outside made it an easy decision to relax!
