From probably not the worlds highest city we caught a bus to Sucre, the old capital of Bolivia, it's a lovely little city with lots of character. For some reason… well ok Nathan wanted to… we decided to venture out of town to see some dinosaur foot prints and fossils but the best part was that we got to ride the 'dinotruck' out to the site too… erm ok so it turned out just to be an old truck with dinosaur feet on the front! Bit of let down if you ask me! Anyway, just as we were leaving town in the said truck we saw a friend we'd met a couple of times already on our travels so we dragged him along for the fun. The whole thing was a complete waste of time! The footprints ran vertically up a rock face and the viewing platform was about 200m away, they just looked like small marks on a wall – last time Nathan gets to pick the days activity. The only good thing was that they had life size plastic models of dinosaurs so we ended up just taking silly pictures! The following day our Belgium friend got his own back… when we all headed off for a days trekking in the mountains outside of Sucre. We walked for a few hours to find some waterfalls called the 7 cascades, which were quite cool, set at the bottom of a rock path and in the middle of nowhere. But, someone (and I'm not naming names but they weren't English!) had the great idea of climbing up and out instead of just following the path we came in on – so quickly followed by Shona because lets face it she's not going to decline the chance to scale anything remotely dangerous! We slowly scaled our way out of the waterfalls and to the safety of the hills, problem was we didn't really know what way to go! We set off up a bramble covered hill just to find more expanses of hills and fields at the top. Managed to spot a farmer working in a field so we headed over to him to ask for help, he just laughed – crazy foreigners! So with no help we carried on walking until we finally spotted the road. Ok next hurdle was getting down to it as between us and the road was a bloody big cliff of rocks and more brambles! Scrambling, slipping and sliding our way down the rock face (and trying not to get too many thorns in places you don't want thorns) we finally made it to the bottom and the safety of the road about 2 hours after we left the waterfalls and miles further along the road from where we left it – oh how we laughed! So after about 9 hours of walking we made it back to town very weary but having had a good little adventure. One thing though… remind me never to go walking with any mad Belgians again! We later heard from him saying that he’d had to spend the night on a mountain without any gear having got lost on a trek a few days after we left him!
