A 2 hour bus ride north of Quito is Otavalo, a town that seems in the middle of nowhere amongst beautiful countryside, but it has one of the biggest markets in South America. It is full of indigenious people dressed in there full outfits – a colourful array of ponchos, hats, beads, jewellery etc. The market is massive and takes up most of the town, it sells everything and anything from authentic local crafts and textiles, llama wool hats and ponchos, to fake dvd's and nike trainers. We spent a couple of hours just wandering the streets looking at all the goods on offer but like the poor travellers we now are we buy nothing, not even a silly fluffy toy llama that we obviously sooo wanted!
