Emerald crater lake

After Latacunga we travelled part of the Quilatoa Loop stopping to trek around the crater of a dormant volcano. It was a very stoney and slippery walk down to the bottom of the crater where there was a beautiful emerald lake with little bubbly bits where the volcano gases where coming out. Was pretty hard work walking back out of the crater at 4000 meters above sea level though. We got to the top just in time before the weather turned and everything was instantly covered in mist but luckily we were well prepared this time!
