We left Ranthambore and the hiding tigers behind and headed back north to Jaipur – this signalled our last few days in India as it is from Jaipur that we are to make our way to Oz, via Chennai and Singapore. With this in mind, plus also both feeling very tired, Jaipur was a little bit of a washout. We only had about 16 hours in town and hopefully a good 8 of those would be spent catching up on some much needed sleep! Having experienced some peace and open space of the national park going back to a bustling and busy city equally wasn’t much fun – I think finally rushing from place to place has taken its toll and this is one city too many! We tried to see some of the town the afternoon we arrived and wandered the busy streets to see the Hawa Mahal (palace of winds) unfortunately even this left us a little under-awed so we just made our way back through town, saying ‘No’ again to the same silk/pots/flowers/craft sellers we said ‘No’ to 30 minutes before and just chilled instead. The following morning there was time for brekkie and a quick email check before it was time to head to the airport and catch our flight to Chennai, formerly Madras – why have all Indian cities changed thier name! How weird would it be if good old Boris Johnson turned round and declared that London was not to be called London any more, obviously he would do it in a bumbling buffoon way that only an Eton educated fool could do, but still. And anyway, who’s heard of a chicken chennai?! Our stay in Chennai to be honest was even less exciting than our time in Jaipur, other than visiting the natural history museum we didn’t really do much… got to stop arriving in places to leave again 16 hours later!!
