We’d managed to get ourselves book on a cheap flight back to Beijing avoiding the long train journey which was bit of a result – 29 hours on a train or 2 on an aeroplane (which was cheaper!), no contest! We’d really enjoyed our little jaunt in Mongolia but it was time to move on and Beijing was the easiest and best place to start from – again! Flying into Beijing for the 2nd time was a completely different experience and this is where my apology to the Chinese Government begins… they haven’t stolen the sky, it does exist and it’s blue with clouds and everything! Sorry! On landing the first time we’d started our decent through the initial cloud layer at 30 odd thousand feet and then 30 minutes later we’d hit the run way without seeing a thing, not even the ground! This time though we saw the mountains laid out around the city, got clear views of the Great Wall as we soared above it, saw farmers waving at us as we….ok lying now! It was actually nice to be back in an Asian city, as fantastic as Mongolia was UB wasn’t the best of places really, Beijing even though it’s massive has a nice feel to it, plus it was now sunny – problem is that we now want to go and re-visit all the places we’ve already been to and actually see them properly and not through the city smog, might even get some better pictures instead of the merky dulled out ones from before!!
